Car park with multiple charging stations
Charging of all connected electric vehicles (EV) at full charging power until the rated current of the fuse (max. current of the supply line) is reached. As soon as another vehicle needs to charge the charging currents are evenly distributed among all vehicles. This prevents critical overloading of the supply line. As soon as the end of a vehicle's charging process is detected, the power thereby becoming available is redistributed among all the vehicles still charging. The charging stations communicate with each other via wired Ethernet or wireless WLAN.
Parameter configuration
Setting up of dynamic load management (DLM) requires all charging stations to be in the same network or to form one of their own. For configuration open the app and go to System - Settings. Open "Advanced settings" and display "Expert settings". Now select "Dynamic load management (DLM)". Define precisely one charging station per charging group as DLM coordinator, to handle coordination with the DLM charging points. The following parameters must be set in the DLM coordinator and in all DLM charging points:
1. "Coordinator/charging point DLM role" parameter:
- It is recommended that in the DLM coordinator the setting "DLM coordinator" is selected and in the DLM charging points "DLM charging point (Auto-Discovery)". In this configuration the coordinator automatically finds all charging points in the same network.
- The information "Number of identified DLM charging points" provides corresponding details of how many charging points are linked with a coordinator.
- This database can be deleted via the "Reset DLM charging point database" parameter, if one or more wallboxes have left the charging group. To delete, the parameter must be set and transmitted; this is then automatically reset and the database in the wallbox deleted.
2. "DLM network ID" parameter:
- Assign a network ID, e.g. 1, for the charging group. The ID must be identical in the coordinator and in all other charging points.
3. "Mains connection lower current limit" parameter:
- Enter here the minimum current limit that the charging process should not fall below. If less charging current is available than the limiting value, the charging process is paused. (Standard setting: 6A)
4. "Current limit in the event of a connection failure" parameter:
- Permanently saved current limit for each charging point, if the wallbox is unable to establish a link to the DLM coordinator. (Standard setting: 6A)
The following parameters only need to be set in the DLM coordinator wallbox: The above steps complete the configuration of the DLM charging points. The following parameters are preset as standard in each DLM charging point, although they have no effect on load management and can be ignored. Only the values of the DLM coordinator are used.
5. "Sub-distribution current limit load management" parameter:
- Set the network connection current limit for all three phases L1/L2/L3 here. This value is dependent upon the rated current of the fuse in the sub-distribution of the charging group.
6. "Maximum distributable charging current" parameter:
- Set the available current here, for all three phases L1/L2/L3, for distribution to the connected electric vehicles. This current limit must be equal to or less than the load management current limit.
It is also advisable to define the unbalanced load prevention in a charging group. To do so, set the following parameters:
7. "Unbalanced load prevention" parameter:
- This parameter must be "activated". Once this parameter has been activated, the DLM will not exceed the configured unbalanced load limit.
8. "Unbalanced load limit" parameter:
- Enter here the maximum permitted unbalanced load in the charging group taking into consideration the local installation.
Once the parameters have been transmitted by NFC to the wallbox, the wallbox performs a restart. This means that DLM is fully set up and active.
